Kristie Unsupervised

My stepsister Danae has some adorable kiddos who I've been hanging with over the long weekend. They're blonde, smart, and incredibly entertaining. Sometimes she leaves them with me unsupervised. I should write her a thank you note.

Now, a weekend recap of our conversations...

Brookelynn: Do you want a milkshake?
Me: Yes. Oreo, please.
[Brookelynn leaves to make me a milkshake from sand]
Me: I really don't like playing pretend.
My mom: I know. You always had a hard time with it when you were younger.
Me: I think I finally figured it out--you do it really quickly so it's over soon.

Danae: Brookelynn, you need to finish your dinner.
Brookelynn: But I'm fulllll.
Danae: You need to finish it.
Me: Look, Brookie, it's going to be a lot quicker to finish those two bites than argue with your mom. Trust me.

Brookelynn: Aunt Kristie, you need to wax the hair above your lip.
Me: Oh, really?
Brookelynn: Yeah. You have too much.
Me: Okay, I will. You know, I'm your aunt and I don't care, but for future reference, if you notice hair right there on someone else you probably shouldn't say anything. It might make them cry.

Me: I want to make a July 4th cake and I don't want any help so I can take all the credit for it.
Kierra & Brookelynn: Aunt Kristie, can we please help?
Me: Fine. You can crack the eggs.
Kierra: Can we lick the bowl too?
Me: Sure. I'm not your mother, so a suger high is fine by me.

Kierra: Can we do it now?
Me: No. We're waiting until later.
Kierra: But I want to do it now.
Me: Look, if we're tring to see who is going to be more stubborn, I'm going to win every time.
My mom: Kierra, she's right. You've got nothing on her.

I know what you're thinking....I'm going to win aunt of the year.
